Eagles vs. Cowboys Week 7 game preview and predictions

Doug Pederson was right. The Philadelphia Eagles are going to go down to Dallas and beat the Cowboys.

It sure won’t be easy for an Eagles team that has plenty of worrisome weaknesses. Amari Cooper should shred this struggling secondary. Ezekiel Elliott could have success on the ground with Nigel Bradham out and Zach Brown gone. No one would be surprised to see the Dallas defense stifle a perpetually slow-starting Eagles offense.

And yet, it just feels like the Eagles are due. I mean, they’re not really about to drop to 0-4 in their last four games against the Cowboys, right?

This notion that the Cowboys have totally owned them just isn’t true. I’d argue that Dallas has just been much luckier than some will admit. Look back at these highlights from the last time these two teams met in Dallas.

The Cowboys get a HUGE break with that garbage “no clear recovery” ruling on the first play of the game, which likely takes at least three Eagles points off the board. Jake Elliott has one of his only two extra point misses in 2018. Dallas Goedert has a 75-yard touchdown wiped out by a non-existent offensive pass interference penalty. The Cowboys win the coin toss in overtime. Rasul Douglas deflects Dak Prescott’s 3rd-and-8 attempt that would’ve brought up a field goal and an Eagles offensive possession ... except the ball bounces right into Cooper’s hands instead for the game winning touchdown. Just incredible bad luck.

I don’t think last year’s frustrating loss has been forgotten by this year’s team. I think the Eagles have been itching for the opportunity to play this team again. The fact that it’s such a high stakes game makes the chance for revenge even sweeter.

Ultimately, I think Pederson and Carson Wentz find a way to make up for the Eagles’ flaws and leave Dallas with a win. I certainly feel a lot better betting on them than I do Jason Garrett, who’s on the hot seat after three straight losses, and Dak Prescott, who has a mere 83.2 passer rating in six career games against the Eagles.

Ravens vs. Seahawks: Bold Predictions

Following back-to-back divisional wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals, the Baltimore Ravens (4-2) now travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks (5-1). Winning in Seattle before an upcoming bye week is crucial for the Ravens, as they look to further distance themselves in the divisional race.

Spencer Schultz:

Neither team is able to find the end zone in the first half, and despite rumblings of a shootout, the two teams combine to score less than 40 points.

Taylor Ciotola:

In a complete shock to the fan base, the Ravens are able to set the edge and generate significant pressure. Tyus Bowser’s snap count increases drastically and he is able to record two sacks and five QB hits.

Frank J. Platko:

In his first game in Seattle as a member of the opposing team, Earl Thomas III doubles his interception total on the season by picking off Russell Wilson two times - one of which comes late in the fourth quarter.

Dustin Cox:

Baltimore’s defense shows up big on Sunday against Seattle, limiting MVP candidate Russell Wilson to under 300 passing yards and the offense to under 20 points. Cornerback Marcus Peters makes his first game with the Ravens a memorable one as he grabs an interception - the first of the season for Wilson.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson leads the Ravens rushing attack with over 100 yards on the ground and over 200 in total for the offense yet again. Jackson finds the end zone three times, twice through the air and once on the ground.

New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears 2019: Prediction Against The Spread, Odds For NFL Week 7 Game

The New Orleans Saints continue to pass every test in the 2019 NFL season. The defending NFC South champions defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in Week 6, improving their record to 5-1.

New Orleans is a perfect 4-0 since Teddy Bridgewater replaced the injured Drew Brees at starting quarterback. The Saints handed the first-place Dallas Cowboys their first loss of the season. The Seattle Seahawks would be undefeated if they hadn’t been beaten at home by New Orleans. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were playing well until they were defeated soundly in the Superdome.

Even as the Saints continue to roll, they are underdogs for a second consecutive game.

The Chicago Bears are favored by three points over the Saints at Soldier Field in Week 7, according to the latest betting line at OddsShark. The over/under for Sunday’s contest is 38.5.

It’s been a few weeks since the Bears last picked up a victory. Chicago was upset by the Oakland Raiders in London in Week 5. The Bears are coming off their bye.

Chase Daniel threw two interceptions in the 24-21 loss to Oakland. The quarterback might be headed back to the bench now that Mitchell Trubisky has returned to practice. Trubisky injured his shoulder early in Chicago’s Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings, though the Bears won 16-6 with Daniel taking the majority of the snaps.

Chicago has an elite defense, despite a rare underwhelming performance in their last game. The team still ranks fourth in opponents’ yards per play and third in scoring defense. The Bears are sixth in total defense.

Whether it’s Daniel or Trubisky under center, the Bears struggle to move the ball. Chicago is 30th in both yards per play and total offense. The offense hasn’t produced more than 23 points in any of their five games.

The defending NFC North champs might not need a bunch of touchdowns to beat the Saints. New Orleans has been held to 13 points or fewer in two of Bridgewater's starts.

But the Saints have proven that they are more than comfortable winning a low-scoring game.

New Orleans beat Jacksonville 13-6 last week. The Jaguars averaged 24.3 points in Gardner Minshew’s previous three starts. The Saints beat the Cowboys 12-10. Dallas has scored at least 22 points in every other game. Even when New Orleans beat Seattle 33-27, the Seahawks scored two touchdowns in the game’s final three minutes when the outcome had already been decided.

The Saints’ defense has actually been better than the Bears’ defense in recent weeks. New Orleans ranks fourth in opponents’ yards per play over their last three games. Chicago is eighth.

In a close game that hasn’t seen many points scored, the Saints have the more reliable quarterback to make big plays down the stretch.

Bridgewater hasn’t put up big numbers. He just continues to do what’s asked of him, completing at least two-thirds of his passes in each start. The quarterback is averaging 231 passing yards and a 104.4 passer rating per start.

Trubisky hasn’t thrown for more than 231 yards in a game this season. His only good performance came against a bad Washington Redskins’ defense. The quarterback has a sub-90.0 passer rating in each of his last five starts.

New Orleans is simply the better team. Chicago shouldn’t be laying a field goal, even at home, against possibly the best team in the entire conference.

The Saints are perfect against the spread in their last four games. Keep rolling with New Orleans until someone knocks them off.

Prediction: New Orleans over Chicago, 19-16

Tennessee Titans vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Predictions for week 7

We make our predictions for who will make it to 3-4 on Sunday.
You never want to have a “must win” game in October, because that means to expect some dark things for the rest of the season, but that is exactly what the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Chargers have right now.

While it has almost gotten lost in the Marcus Mariota benching and Ryan Tannehill elevation, the Titans are at a miserable 2-4 as are the Chargers. With both teams on the precipice of losing any relevance in the NFL, there feels like some desperation on both sides for a win here.

The Titans have the advantage of having a “new” quarterback for Gus Bradley and the Chargers defense to plan for, not to mention getting to play at home.

On the other hand, the Chargers have the better offensive staff, quarterback and some impact players all over the field.

While both teams are 2-4 this is going to be a heated contest between two teams where someone has to come to work on Monday knowing that their season has been a huge disappointment and that there are going to be some people who need to pay with their jobs.

So on that light note, here is what our staff things about the game (my prediction is last along with a quick wrap up of the final tally for the predictions.
